This is just a brief summary of what each event entails and the scoring involved. It is not intended to be complete. For more information, we strongly recommend attending our training and using the manual for your age level.

Knots

Each team member must tie four knots: square knot, clove hitch, bowline, taut line. Points awarded for correct knots and time. Ties broken by time.
Orienteering
2-4 girls (team's choice)

Team runs set orienteering course, which is between White and Yellow in difficulty. Course is "score-O" where different controls are worth different points. Points deducted for being overtime.
Pancake Flip-Flop

Two members mix pancake batter, other two start charcoal fire using chimney. Girls take turns cooking one pancake each. Pancake must be flipped from frying pan over rope strung six feet high, caught in pan and safely placed on plate. Points awarded for pancakes, safety, teamwork,& spirit, preparation, cleanup. Points deducted for more than one match.

Each team given physical task to complete. Requires all members. Need ability to tie square knot.

Tent Pitching

Team must put up tarp as "tent". Points are awarded for setup, stakes, knots, time and teamwork. Points deducted for improper handling of equipment.
Trail Signs

Team must follow trail of 25, draw and identify each sign found. Limited to 30 min. Ties broken by time

Wilderness Survival

Girls respond to a simulated emergency situation and assemble a simple shelter. Points awarded for knowledge of survival priorities and location, sturdiness and layout of shelter. Points deducted for misuse of resources provided.
